J. Kathleen Hogan
Kathleen is a Practice Support Lawyer at Cassels Brock. She facilitates the design and implementation of organizational and technical structures to support the firm’s culture of knowledge sharing. This allows both lawyers and clients access to comprehensive information.
Kathleen brings a wealth of experience to this role. Prior to joining Cassels Brock, her focus was in the area of legal research and writing. She gained experience at a large, full-service law firm as well as a boutique litigation firm. Kathleen also acted as General Counsel of an international family of manufacturing companies.
Kathleen gained a breadth of generalist expertise from her previous work experiences, which includes:
- Handling the compensation claims of Hepatitis-C and HIV victims (and their families) resulting from tainted blood transfusions
- Providing opinions and advice on employment issues
- Providing opinions and advice on asset and share purchases, product development, intellectual property, information technology failure
- Reviewing new contracts including leases, vendor agreements, and insurance policies
- Drafting corporate policies on debt collection, workplace safety, employment, and workplace harassment
- Providing advanced research support for litigation ranging from same-day questions to significant trial preparation and post-trial matters
- Providing key support on marketing strategies and implementation, and preparing print and online marketing material
Kathleen’s has a deep understanding and appreciation of the value of finding business-oriented solutions. Kathleen enjoys tackling new challenges, streamlining information, and helping the firm’s lawyers quickly find relevant resources to further their clients’ goals.
She obtained her LL.B. from Queen’s University in 2000, where she was the Editor-in-Chief of the Queen’s Law Journal. Kathleen completed her undergraduate degree at Memorial University of Newfoundland, majoring in Classical Studies.
