Help Desk Support Specialist

Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP is presently recruiting for a Help Desk Support Specialist in our I.T. department reporting to the Manager of Customer Service.

The primary responsibility is to provide first level floor support, support via phone and e-mail to our users on all applications and technology.
Specific Responsibilities:
  • As a front line Information Technology (IT) representative, this individual is responsible for providing a positive and responsible image to all of the Cassels Brock & Blackwell lawyers and staff.
  • Provide assistance to our internal clients by answering the Help Desk phones and e-mail and providing one-on-one support to clients coming to the Information Technology area.
  • Responsible for escalating problems which could not be resolved over the phone using the appropriate escalation procedures.
  • Responsible for the proper and detailed entry of problems and resolutions into the HEAT software package used by the Help Desk.
  • Responsible for analyzing questions and problems presented to the Help Desk and providing suggestions to the Manager Customer Services, appropriate actions required to minimize the number of Help Desk calls received.
  • Identify specific training needs of callers to the Help Desk to ensure that proper training is provided to users as they need it.
  • Responsible for providing initial feedback to IT on new applications which have been scheduled for release to the firm. This will include fully testing the application and providing reports to IT management. It also includes learning the new applications in order to provide ongoing support when required.
  • Maintain expert level of knowledge in all firm established applications.
  • Responsible for providing off-hours support by carrying a BlackBerry device during evenings and weekends on a rotational basis. Responsible for consistent checking and acknowledging e-mails and phone calls to this device.
  • Responsible for project work as assigned.
  • Overtime may be required.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned. 
Work Experience Requirements:
  • One to two years experience providing Help Desk support or client support in a professional or similar environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills combined with adaptability would be an asset.
  • A dedicated hard worker who is interested in providing the best client support possible.
  • Previous exposure to working in the legal environment would be an asset.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Must be a team player and work well with others.
Educational Requirements:
 
College Diploma or related work experience.

Legal Assistant - Real Estate

Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP is presently recruiting for an experienced Legal Assistant in our Real Estate Department specializing in mortgage remedy and providing a variety of routine legal and administrative duties including preparation of legal documents and correspondence.

Specific Responsibilities: 
  • Preparing legal documents in a mortgage remedy practice from written, oral and taped instructions and precedents.
  • Preparation of demand letters, notices of sale and statements of claim.
  • Drafting routine correspondence on behalf of lawyer.
  • Entering dockets and preparing accounts.
  • Applying proofreading and editing skills to documents and correspondence.
  • Obtaining information and instructions from clients and forwarding to lawyer.
  • Managing bring forward system and keeping lawyer apprised of matters in office.
  • Provide support to other lawyers and staff as required and requested. 
Work Experience Requirements: 
  • Proficient computer skills in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of mortgage remedy experience in a law firm environment
  • Highly organized and have great pride in the final work product. 
  • The candidate must have initiative and able to work with minimal supervision as well as work as part of a team.
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills are essential.
  • Attention to detail and above average technical skills are prerequisites of this position.
  • The ability to work overtime when required is essential. 
Educational Requirements:
 
College Diploma or related work experience.
